There is an update for Windows Virtual PC: In your scenario, you're using VMWare solution so we cannot ensure it is the same story as Hyper-V, you may contact VMWare support to get further assistance. Needs direct hardware support, it cannot be used in another virtual environment, for example, we cannot run Hyper-V based virtual machine in another virtual machine, but it is possible to run VPC 2007 on another VPC 2007 virtual machine.

The Windows Virtual PC is an enhanced technology compared with Virtual PC 2007 (VPC 2007 is a simulation solution.) Windows Virtual PC generally gets the support from the hardware level technologies (Intel VT or AMD-V).
